The days are getting warmer and the energy biz gets more interesting by the minute!
Last Wednesday we were happy to attend the 2012 Sacred Earth Leadership Forum: Reflections and Reconnections, at Vassar College. The forum convened various Hudson Valley religious leaders, with a specific focus on those from Orange, Ulster and Dutchess Counties. The objective was to find commonalities among the different belief systems that will eventually lead to tangible results regarding environmental conservation. Action steps will be conceptualized based on ideas from the forum and then shared with religious groups and congregations throughout the aforementioned counties as a means of creating unified action. The experience was interesting and it was wonderful to see people so inspired and energized at its conclusion. We will share more on this in the coming weeks.

We were also happy to meet with representatives from Walden Savings Bank. Based in Walden, NY, they have branches all over Orange County, from Cornwall to Circleville. Part of our aim in working with them was to reach out to a local lending institution that has many branch locations, thereby adding to the trust and convenience factor. We hope to work with them on both residential and commercial lending for renewable energy systems. The call for bank support comes, in part, due to recent developments in the industry that have made this a prime time for property owners to GO SOLAR. Yet, despite this “Perfect Storm” of conditions, that includes both aggressive government incentives as well as recent technological advances, some customers need help with that initial outlay. This is where we hope Walden Savings Bank, and perhaps other local banks, can step in. It’s a win-win-win for everyone involved!
This week we continue to help people plan for their spring home improvement projects! Recently, we met a man in the Albany area who is building a home so far from the grid that it would actually cost him more money to have the utility company connect his property and less to invest in renewable energy. We are always happy to accomodate the diverse needs of our clientele. That said, at the end of this week we head to the Buffalo area where the potential for wind power is an inspiring agent of change!
