Weekly News: July 5, 2012

We are happy to report that we have partnered with SunRun, San Franciso-based Solar company who has been very successful on the West Coast. They recently chose five companies across New York State to participate in its upcoming penetration of the New York Solar market, and we are one! We look forward to meeting them face-to-face in August in Albany to discuss how all the companies can work together across the state. It should be interesting hearing the stories of different solar companies in the various regions of NY!

Some news regarding the increasing awareness and support from some NY higher-ups:

In April Governor Cuomo annouced the inception of the The NY-Sun Initiative, which will blend and expands existing programs administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), and the New York Power Authority (NYPA), to ensure a coordinated and well-funded solar energy expansion plan.  Click here for full story.

As noted recently in our May 16th - Weekly News Post, streamlining the solar energy system permitting process is a must-do for any states and localities who are interesting in drawing in more solar projects. We are pleased to see that as part of the NY-Sun Initiative, “the state created the NY-Sun BOS initiative, which will work with private and public partners across New York State to try to implement statewide standardization and streamlining of the procedures for permitting and interconnection, and development and training.”**
