This past weekend we were thrilled to hear Vanguard Energy recognized as underwriter on the show Pulse of the Planet on WAMC: Northeast Public Radio. It is a NPR-produced show that airs on Saturday and Sunday mornings that showcases environmental and ecological issues.

Sacred Earth Project is the creation of the Green Brain Initiative
This week we are thrilled to be attending the 2012 Sacred Earth Leadership Forum: Reflections and Reconnections, at Vassar College. The forum is a creation of the Sacred Earth Project and was inspired after discussion with several prominent religious leaders in the Hudson Valley who recognized the lack of inter-religious dialogues regarding our relationship with the natural world. Native American, Islamic, Jewish, Christian, Hindu and Buddhist representatives will be exploring the theological foundations of principles for environmental conservation efforts. Some of our friends from the Tsechen Kunchab Ling Buddhist Temple in Walden will also be there and speaking as part of the program. It should be enlightening, to say the least.
In recent weeks we have followed State and Federal policy regarding renewable energy, intrigued by the symmetry that exists between the respective agendas. In his recent State of the Union speech President Obama spoke of his alternative energy agenda and how promoting green jobs can help revitalize the economy. Similarly, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been aggressively pursuing an alternative energy initiative in addition to what already exists. Specifically, we are hopeful that he will be able to implement the Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SREC) program, which already exists in nearby New Jersey and Massachusetts. The program would make investing in solar energy systems not only more financially feasible but would actually increase the economic value for the customer.
Finally, we would like to congratulate our Director of Business Development, David Dodson, who is currently working toward becoming one of our Solar Design Engineers. He just passed the preliminary test and, in turn, gained admittance to sit at the National Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) exam in March. Good work, Dave!!!
